About diet

Patients with enterostomy should pay attention to maintaining a good diet balance and eating slowly. Patients with ileostomy should avoid a large amount of food or water in a single time, and pay attention to water supplementation to prevent dehydration.

Urostomy patients should pay attention to drink more water and juice in their diet. The daily water intake is 1500-2000ml, and they should eat more fresh fruits and vegetables to take in vitamin C. If kidney function is a problem, watch your protein and salt intake.

About to take a bath

Normal exposure to water and air does not cause damage to the stoma, and water does not flow into the stoma, so bathing with or without an ostomy bag is acceptable. If you shower with an ostomy bag, you will need to replace it afterwards.

About the dress

Wear soft and comfortable clothes, avoid tights, so as to avoid compression and friction of the stoma and affect the blood circulation. Pay attention to the air permeability of clothes, and avoid excessive sweating leading to weak adhesion of the stoma bag.

About the storage and disposal of nursing products

Care products should be stored in a dry room temperature environment, avoid direct sunlight, avoid heavy pressure, do not accumulate storage. The stoma bag is a disposable product, and should be emptied or replaced when the fecal matter in the enterostomy bag is 1/2 to 2/3 full, and when the fecal matter in the urostomy bag is 1/3 to 1/2 full. Do not put the replacement bag directly into the toilet to avoid clogging it.

About periodic review

After recovery from the disease, the health of the stoma and surrounding skin is the guarantee of the subsequent quality of life. It is very important to carry out regular outpatient review of stoma after discharge. It is necessary to follow the advice of medical staff and review on time.
