May 19 is World Inflammatory Bowel Disease Day (IBD). Organized by the European Association for Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis, with patient organizations from more than 50 countries on five continents, it aims to raise public awareness and understanding of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), an incurable and lifelong disease. This year, marking the 13th World Inflammatory Bowel Disease Day, the theme of IBD Day this year is "IBD for all Ages."
inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a non-specific intestinal inflammatory disease involving the digestive tract, mainly including ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD). In addition, some of the pathological manifestations could not be identified as CD or UC, but clinically could be diagnosed as IBD unclassified (IBDU).
Symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease are mainly manifested as abdominal pain, diarrhea, bloody stool and weight loss, generally slow onset, a few sudden.
At present, IBD prevalence rate is increasing year by year, which is high in young people. The course of disease is difficult to heal, easy to attack repeatedly, and often accompanies life. Its etiology is not clear, and it may be caused by the interaction of environmental, genetic, intestinal microbiota imbalance and other risk factors.
